All international students and scholars should review the information provided in the video for an introdution to the U.S. healthcare system and health insurance.
USD's Student Health Insurance Requirement
All full-time students are subject to the Student Health Insurance Requirement. If you are enrolled in full-time units you are eligible to enroll in the USD Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), coordinated through USD’s provider Gallagher Student Health and Aetna Student Health, or waive with a comparable insurance plan.
Refer to the resources below to further familiarize yourself with the USD SHIP:
Please Note
Non-emergency dental and vision care are not included in USD's SHIP and most U.S. based insurance plans. As is the norm in the United States these services must be purchased separately. Read more about Gallagher's dental and vision supplemental coverage and discounts and reach out to the International Center for a list of dental and vision referrals if needed.
Please refer to the Office of International Students and Scholars Health Insurance Policy for in-depth information on the USD health insurance requirement for international students.
